The sun-drenched beaches of the Costa del Sol

Who can resist a trip to the beaches of the Cost Del Sol and a dip in the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea?
With over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average water temperature of 18°C (rising to 24°C in August) these beaches are the perfect antidote to colder, less sunnier climes.
The Costa del Sol boasts over a hundred-and-sixty kilometres of coastline – and most of it is beach!
These are some of the finest beaches in Europe – well maintained with lifeguards, beach bars, showers, and disabled access in many locations.
The Costa del Sol boasts many blue-flag beaches, which are recognised as having high environmental, sanitary and safety standards. These include:
- Fuengirola
- Malaga
- Manilva
- Marbella
- Mijas
- Nerja
The beaches at Playa de Las Acacias, Pedregalejo and El Palo in Málaga are particularly suitable for families.
If you fancy a sports beach, try La Rada in Estepona, where volleyball, football, windsurfing and kayaking are very popular.
